Scent Strength (balance):
Until a few years ago the suggestion of a Bay Rum, Limes & Peppercorns scented shave cream would have been ridiculous to me and I would have rejected, and possibly even ridiculed the idea. In fact, I would imagine the majority of my friends who use mass market shaving products would feel the same way now. It’s too bad really because Ogallala’s Bay Rum, Limes and Peppercorns is fantastic, and they are missing out on a great experience.
If you haven’t tried this soap you need to do yourself a favour and pick some up, especially for the summer months. The combination of the three scents works perfectly. The bay rum being the dominant scent. The lime is subtle but effective. The peppercorns give the soap a wicked sharpness. To be honest it was the peppercorns that really drew me to this soap, it seemed like such an odd choice to add to a shave cream that I had to try it. Overall the strength of the soap seems to have a perfect balance, strong enough that you are struggle to get a scent, but not so strong that you are holding your breath while shaving.
Lathering, as with every soap I have used from Ogallala, is just an awesome experience. Lots of full thick lather, that is very easy to lather. So easy is it to work, this soap that it should be used to train people how to build lather. Lots of cushion and slickness. Just wonderful.
If you not a fan of the bay rum scent then the likelihood of you enjoying Ogallala’s Bay Rum, Limes & Peppercorns is probably rather low. However, if you are a fan then you really shouldn’t hesitate to give this soap a try. It is priced right (available from Amazon or Ogallala’s website) and it will last you quite a long time.
