The Close Shave Presents Its First Reading Group…
This is the first and probably the last of its kind, a short story reading group entry on TheCloseShave. I am in the middle of a short story unit with my high school English class and I came across a short story that I have not used in many years, Lather and Nothing Else by Hernando Tellez. It is a story of a barber, a revolutionary, who has to make a choice; provide a great shave or kill the man – Captain Torres – who is sitting in his chair.
Although my students didn’t love the story, I feel that the readers of this blog will find the descriptions and story interesting. If you enjoy the art of shaving, I believe you will enjoy this story. A copy of the story can be found here (doc) or here (pdf).
I would love to hear your thoughts on the story or even any suggestions for other short stories that would be of interest to classic wet shavers in the comments below.
