The cold weather has forced me to kick up my moisturizing routine, without it I turn into a scaly, rough hand freak. I took this opportunity to break out a sample sized bottle of Das Boom Industries Detroit lotion that I have been sitting on for a few months. I put it aside partially due to winter still being some time away and partially due to the fact that I couldn’t get past the fact that motor oil is one of the fragrances.
Let’s start with the positive. Motor oil is not in fact one of the fragrances found in this lotion, in fact Das Boom Industries is a vegan, cruelty free, paraben free, gluten free, and free from petrochemicals. So it is free of many many things but it works well. After a few days my skin felt soft and my skin seemed scale free. I did like that the lotion did not leave my hands feeling greasy. The sample size didn’t provide me too many days to of use, about a week’s worth, but in that time my skin felt good.
The bad. I hate the smell. There is definitely a smoky tobacco element to the lotion, which on its own wouldn’t be too bad but it is the mixture of the other scents that just didn’t work for me. I’m not sure if it is the musk or the Blue Green Algae, but all I do know is that I really did not enjoy the scent. Didn’t grow on me at all.
Having said all that, I could see some people enjoying the scent of this cream, it just isn’t for me. I can’t really compare it to anything else that I have used, but if you enjoy musk, the smell of tobacco, mixed in with some other scents this is for you. I do see myself trying another scent from Das Boom Industries because the lotion seems to be quite effective.
