Razorock Don Donato Italian Shaving Soap

I picked up a tub of Razorock Don Donato Italian Shaving Soap a few weeks back, the third of fourth shaving soap from the Italian Barber (it is also currently available on Amazon) I have purchased in the last five or six months. This one, like the others were all purchased in order to qualify for some free shipping. I had no intention of buying this, but I am not one to turn away from sampling some new shave soap.

Barrister and Mann Leviathan Tallow Shaving Soap

It has been a while since I have posted here. Much longer since I posted a review of one of Barrister and Mann’s products. Happily my first review since early September is a positive one. Not that I had much doubt, if you are unaware Barrister and Mann has made quite a name for themselves in the wet shaving universe. Along with a few other items that I will touch on in the coming weeks I ordered a tub of their Barrister and Mann Leviathan Tallow Shaving Soap, which has a limited run which is set to end production on December 21st. Back From Italy – Figaro Shave Soap

Perhaps it is my fault. My last trip to Italy was six or seven years ago. Long before I started to wet shave it was interested in any way. I arrived in Italy expecting to find more of a traditional wet shaving culture than I found. I had a vision of grocery stores and pharmacies carrying Proraso, Cella, and shelves of lesser known, but equally fantastic brands. I expected a large selection of brushes – even if they were all Omega’s.

Italian Barber Eleganza Shaving Soap

I’m writing this review just a few hours before heading off to Italy for a weeks. So it is a bit fitting that this review is of one of The Italian Barbers Shave Creams. I’m hoping that over the next three weeks I will be coming across a few lesser known Italian soaps and creams that I can write about from abroad. But for the meantime here is a quick look at the Italian Barber’s Eleganza Shaving Soap

Italian Barber Acquatico Shave Soap

I added this tub of Acquatico Shaving Soap from the Italian Barber to an order I was placing a few weeks back. I was trying to hit the free shipping level so I was looking for some lower cost items to top up my cart and I came across this soap. At $4.00 U.S. how could I go wrong. I have had only one other experience with Italian Barber soaps, having used their Rosa Di Bossolasco a while back…

Ogallala Bay Rum, Limes & Peppercorns

Until a few years ago the suggestion of a Bay Rum, Limes and Peppercorns scented shave cream would have been ridiculous to me and I would have rejected, and possibly even ridiculed the idea. In fact, I would imagine the majority of my friends who use mass market shaving products would feel the same way now. It’s too bad really because Ogallala’s Bay Rum, Limes and Peppercorns is fantastic, and they are missing out on a great experience.

Fendrihan Lime and Ginger Shave Soap

There was a time when I wouldn’t have given a second thought to the scent of the shave cream I was purchasing. The only concern was whether it would help me out with my shave. Happily those days are gone, shaving with mass market creams and gels are a thing of the past, replaced with wonderful creams and soaps that make shaving much more enjoyable and comfortable. Sadly the days of me not caring so much about my shave cream has increased my awareness and expectations to the products I am using, so when I’m disappointed in a product, I’m really disappointed, as I was with Fendrihan’s Lime and Ginger Shave Soap. Not so much with the performance but definitely with the scent.
